FAMILY GLUCOSINOLATE

Our glucosinolate standards are secondary metabolites found in plants of the order Cappareles, which most know family is Brassicaceae or Crucifereae. They can be present in every tissues. They are responsible of pungency of those plants is due to "mustard oils" produced from them when the plant material is chewed, cut, or otherwise damaged. These natural chemicals most likely contribute to plant defence against pests and diseases, but are also enjoyed in small amounts by humans and are believed to contribute to the health promoting properties of cruciferous vegetables. These glucosinolate reference materials are important analytical standards to assess origin, safety or quality of many edible plants like rapseed, mustard, cabbage, etc...
